A failure is not always a mistake, it may simply be the best you can do under the circumstances. The real mistake is to stop trying.” - B.F. Skinner

Identify where a learner is in their learning journey and starting to steadily build their knowledge from there is important. Having an understanding of the Verbal Behavior approach can be an asset in this process. B.F. Skinner, psychology pioneer, made many contributions to analyzing early language learning using his Verbal Behavior approach.

During this workshop you will learn about the components of the Verbal Behavior approach and how to implement some of these strategies in your everyday encounters.

Challenging Behaviours -  It's A Two-Way Street

June 14, 2023   |   6:00-8:00pm   |    Via Zoom    |    Cost: $25.00

Core deficits in the areas of communication, social behavior, and excessive repetitive behavior may predispose individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) to display challenging behavior.

It is important to consider these challenging behaviours from both the individual’s perspective, as well as the parent and teacher. Consider this - what can come across as lack of compliance, disruption, tantrums, destruction or aggression can often be the result of inability to understand instructions, communicate needs or wants, difficulty with relationships, and a limited ability to learn naturally from his or her environment. We invite you to come and share your experiences with challenging behaviour, and to engage in an evidence-based discussion of how to more effectively manage them.

We hope to see you there!
